The Indonesian Shippers’ Council (Dewan Pemakai Jasa Angkutan Indonesia – DEPALINDO), internationally known as the Indonesia National Shippers’ Council (INSC), is a council of exporters and cargo owners established on November 28, 1975.
DEPALINDO was officially recognized by the Government of Indonesia through: (1) Ministry of Trade Letter No. 1728/M/DPSP/VIII/76 dated August 4, 1976, and (2) Letter No. 325/Daglu/I/75 dated January 23, 1976.
DEPALINDO is also one of the founding members of the Federation of ASEAN Shippers’ Council (FASC), declared on April 3, 1976 in the Philippines. The declaration was signed by the Indonesia National Shippers’ Council, Malaysian National Shippers’ Council, Philippine Shippers’ Council, Singapore National Shippers’ Council, and the Board of Trade of Thailand, witnessed by the President of the Philippines, Mr. Ferdinand Marcos.
In addition, DEPALINDO is also a founding member of the Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA), declared on March 18, 2015 in Surabaya. The declaration was signed by the Indonesia National Shippers’ Council, Korean Shippers’ Council, Macau Shippers’ Association, Thai National Shippers’ Council, Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh, and the Hongkong Shippers’ Council, witnessed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Mr. Danang Girindrawardana.
