Depalindo Meets with Busan Minister of Trade
Analisadaily.com Jakarta-Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, also known as Busan, and his staff received an audience with the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Transport Service Users Council (DPN Depalindo) at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/4/2025). On this occasion, the Minister of Trade was accompanied by Director General of Domestic Trade Iqbal Shoffan Sofwan, Director of Trade Facilities and Logistics Sri Sugy Atmanto, and Secretary of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade Abu Amar. Depalindo was represented by Dr (C) Drs Hendrik H Sitompul MM (Deputy Chairman), Mikhael Ardianto (Deputy Secretary General), and Jeremia Dewanto as General Treasurer of Depalindo.
Depalindo Chairman Toto Dirgantoro apologized to Minister Busan for being unable to attend the meeting. However, as Chairman, he had received an official report from the Depalindo management regarding the results of the hearing. “We (Depalindo) greatly appreciate Minister Busan and his staff for being responsive in accommodating the input and aspirations of business actors,” said Toto on Tuesday (29/4).
He said that there were four points that could be concluded from the meeting, namely: First, the Ministry of Trade will invite exporters who are members of the Indonesian Exporters Association (GPEI) and Depalindo to provide input on Indonesia's logistics system. Second, the Minister of Trade in Busan will emphasize through a regulation in the form of a Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) that quarantine inspections of export goods can only be carried out if requested by the destination country. Third, a regulation (Permendag) will be prepared to regulate the certification of export goods from Indonesia, which will only be enforced if the destination country requires it. Fourth, the Ministry of Trade will mediate between Depalindo and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) regarding export issues and the smooth flow of goods and logistics so that goods owners can be better represented.
“On that occasion, several regulations that hinder exports, logistics issues, the arrangement of empty container depots, export certification, and the impact of the total gridlock at Tanjung Priok Port, which was very detrimental to the business world some time ago, were also discussed,” said Toto, who is currently also the Secretary General of the DPP GPEI. Depalindo also urged that export policies not only focus on increasing volume but also on enhancing logistics competitiveness and export cost efficiency.

On that occasion, Minister of Trade Busan welcomed Depalindo's intentions and objectives, particularly in its role as a catalyst and facilitator for businesses that use sea transportation services in order to create a healthy, efficient, and competitive business climate. The Ministry of Trade supports Depalindo's vision and mission, which are in line with the government's program to realize and strengthen national export competitiveness through improvements to the logistics system.
