GPEI South Sulawesi Facilitates Synergy Between Gorontalo and South Sulawesi Entrepreneurs to Upgrade Exports

GORONTALO - The Indonesian Exporters Association (GPEI) of South and West Sulawesi (Sulselbar) facilitated strategic synergies between business actors from Gorontalo and South Sulawesi. This step aims to encourage commodities from both regions to “move up a class” and penetrate the export market.

This synergy was established during a business meeting held at the Aston Hotel in Gorontalo on September 16-17, 2025. The event involved around 20 business actors and was supported by various parties, including Kadin and Angkasa Pura.

The chairman of the South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi GPEI Regional Representative Council, Arief Pabbetingi, stated that forums such as this have a greater purpose than just trade transactions.

“Of course, there is something bigger at stake in order to upgrade commodities to export level,” said Arief.

According to him, in order for local products to become better known to buyers abroad, activities that bring businesspeople together must be carried out consistently.

“As business actors, we really hope that activities like this need to be consistent,” he said.

Arief added that efforts like this have begun to show results. A number of local business actors are now connected with buyers from various countries.

“Yesterday, some buyers were already on their way, some to Korea, some to America,” he concluded.
