High Logistics Costs Become Major Obstacle to National Exports, Depalindo Complains Directly to Minister of Trade

JAKARTA - High logistics costs are said to be one of the main obstacles hindering the competitiveness of national export products. This crucial issue was raised directly by the Indonesian Transport Service Users Council (DEPALINDO) in a hearing with the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, on Friday (12/9/2025). Toto explained that the purpose of the hearing was to convey the various challenges faced by business actors.

“To convey the challenges we face in supporting national exports, especially in the port logistics sector,” said Toto.

According to Toto, the Minister of Trade responded to the input with great enthusiasm and will follow up on it at the inter-ministerial level.

“(The Minister) will follow up on it, as input that can also be discussed between ministries,” said Toto.

DEPALINDO emphasized that logistics efficiency is key to enabling Indonesian products to compete in the global market.

“Our goods will be able to compete in the global market if we also have low logistics costs,” said the man who also serves as Secretary General of the DPP GPEI.

Inviting the Minister to Open the 12th Depalindo Congress and ASA-GSA Meeting in Bali

In addition to conveying complaints, Toto explained that the audience also had another important agenda, namely inviting the Minister of Trade directly to open two major events. The first agenda is the DEPALINDO National Congress, which will be held soon.

“We hope that the Minister will be willing to open the 12th DEPALINDO Congress on September 25,” said Toto.

Furthermore, an invitation was also extended for an international forum to be held in Bali.

“(We also) hope that the Minister will be willing to open the 2025 ASA-GSA Meeting in Bali,” he added.

The audience was attended by DEPALINDO DPN officials, including Chairman Toto Dirgantoro, Secretary General Wildan Anwar, and Treasurer Jeremia Dewanto. Also present were Deputy Secretary General Mikhael Ardianto, as well as Congress OC Committee Chairman Hendrik Sitompul and Congress SC Committee Chairman Moh Hamzah.
